All my goodies!!

As I mentioned on Friday, I got to take a trip in to the city (yay) and got to go SHOPPING!! Here's a peek at some of my awesome finds.

There's a peek at my new fabrics (and they were all on clearance!! Score!!) Not quite sure what I'm gonna do with them but I'll be starting as soon as I get over looking at the beginnings of a collection :)
This is Chris' (my handsome hubster) new wallet. Isn't the wood grain awesome?! I totally picked it out.
Lacy nail decals...I'm gonna have some purty purty toes. My daughter has laid claim to the princess crowns, but the lace is all MINE!
I found an easy tutorial on google a while ago(can't remember the site now) on how to do the feather extentions. I am so excited!
My present from my momma that came in the mail right before we left, I LOVE this belt!
My diva daughter couldn't leave the house without her purse; complete with makeup (the play stuff that I made), cellphone, peg dolls and cars. That little thing sure holds alot!

And my favorite thing I bought....
Aren't they freakin' CUTE!!! Can't believe this pic is blurry but OMG these are the cutest things ever! And they cost a whopping $3, thats right three dollars. Awesome.

This and that

I love flowers, love love love!! They are so quick and easy! I've been making them out of all my scraps that I having laying around. There will be more coming too, I am gonna be putting them on EVERYTHING! My poor girls are going to be covered lol!!
And I just wanted to show off my bird's nest necklace. I think I need to pick up some more copper wire, and maybe some pearls for the eggs..or do you like the blue eggs? I think it would look good out of a silver wire as well, maybe the copper and blue is too literal? I think that maybe I overthink lol.

I get to go fabric shopping tomorrow YAY!! (The closest fabric store is like 2.5 hrs away!)

Potty Stars

I really need to figure out some cooler sounding titles. But these are exactly as they sound.

We are in the process of potty training my 2 yr old daughter (who just happens to be a fan of Dora- surprise surprise) so I came up with a reward system based on her favorite show (if you had this idea first- I didn't know so I am claiming it as my own! :)
Here's how it works :
When she pees/ poops she gets a star (because Dora collects stars to put in her star pocket in her backpack) to put in the 'Backpack' jar. Yay!!
If she has an accident 'Swiper' gets to 'swipe a star from backpack'.
When she fills up 'Backpack' she gets a prize :)
Simple enough, hopefully it helps....either way its better than her raiding my chocolate chips for every "attempt" (yes, she began just going into the bathroom to claim an attempt at going pee and was eating an enormous amount of Chip-its!!!)
If you'd like one for yourself, all I did was google the images, picked ones I liked, printed and mod-podged onto some clean jars.
I originally wanted stars that were wearing panties (to tie in the theme) and I DO NOT suggest entering that into google...oh boy was that ever a brain fart lol!!

Rolls, rolls, and eventually more rolls....

And I am not talking about my belly lol.
I made Gillian a crochet clutch (inspired by the MANY many tutorials available) and from there decided to do crayon rolls for my kids.
Don't mind the non-centered button, and the wonky curve
 Gillian doesn't :)

Bows are easy to make look good.

I still need to make one for Devon, but they are pretty quick to whip up so probably tonight I'll make his.
A spot for pencil crayons, a notebook and even a pencil sharpener pocket

Cute little butterfly appliques

A shot of the awful awesome after-nap hair lol

A spot for needles and pins

And on a completely unrelated note:
The OLGA hat makes its debut!! (I named it for Gillian)

Pink Crochet Hat

So I just finished this hat last night and thought it turned out pretty good. Sorry for the blurry photo, I'm still working on the photography problems. Though I made this hat, credit must go to Kay Rae, who made this pattern and was nice enough to share it (for free) on Ravelry. The instruction were very clear and the hat did not take long to make at all. Its definitely a good pattern for those starting out and who want to get away from the basic single crochet (or whatever) hat. If anyone out there wants to check out this pattern just click the link at the bottom of this post and you'll find the pattern under the title "Big Girl Bonnet".

Until next time...

GIVEAWAY TIME!!!

Everyone LOVES a giveaway! I whipped these bad boys up last night (and by whipped I mean it took me a couple hours because I am a slooooow poke) and they are wee bit tight for my daughter so one lucky winner will get them!
Not the greatest picture of them, but they are super cute! I would say that they are a 0-3 month size, have a soft fleecy lining, leather sole, and are a super soft corduroy with a cute denim flower.

To enter:
Follow The Lackadaisical Willow and leave a comment telling me so.
Giveaway ends in one week.
Tell your friends :)

I can feel it...

Coming in the air tonight...well actually a giveaway. Seeing as how we still only have one follower (you know you're a loser when...) hopefully maybe a giveaway well convince people to follow us, either that or my mom will be really lucky when her name gets drawn!
I am working on something for a giveaway, so stay tuned...

Summer Fun

Here is the EASIEST summer activity to do with your kids...are you ready?
CHALK!!!
Not just any old chalk though- homemade chalk in whatever colors you want, however bright you want, and you paint it instead of draw with it. Chalk paint, its a good thing (channeling Martha).
It dries looking just like regular old chalk, just brighter.

Here's how you do it:
Step 1: Mix equal parts water and corn starch.
Step 2: Add food coloring to desired color.
Step 3: Go outside and paint :)

Send me pics of your chalk paintings :)

Foxy ain't it?

If you are not able to guess from the title the hat is supposed to be a fox. This hat (that I made for a toddler or a big headed baby) took me a few hours to make and was made a couple of days ago. It's the first of potentially many crochet animal hats that will be sold (hopefully) at the towns Christmas Choas, which is obviously not for awhile. So you lucky followers (or rather follower because at the moment we only have one haha)gets to see some of what will be sold. You also get to see my crochet abilities expand over this next 5-6 months, YAY! As you can probably tell by the photo my abilities are pretty amateur at the moment but as with everything it will get better with practice.

I am looking forward to sharing some more projects in future posts and also to learning how to take a better picture because wow does this one suck. I probably should've taken the date off and did it in a room with better lighting. I will work on that for the next post.

P.S. I'm new to blogging (obviously), so those reading will soon realize that I like brackets: I'm very bad for putting thoughts in the middle of sentences and apparently for blabbing on and on.

Flower Clippies

Here is probably the easiest tutorial ou there. Lots of people have them, and really, these are one of those things that you can really put your own spin on.
Step 1:
Find some synthetic fabric- natural stuff won't work. I used an old satin shirt. Cut out circley type shapes. No need to be exact (unless you want to), you can experiment with different shapes if you want. I prefer circley-ish shapes but power to ya.

Step 2:

Find a candle, lighter or some sort of fire source :) and singe the edges of your circles. The fabric will curl and you can play around with it until you are happy with how it looks. Repeat for all your circles. I also like to singe it a bit in the middle, it helps it look flowery.

Step 4: Stack 'em. Simple right, you can glue each layer down or hand sew them together, either way stack 'em until you like your flower.
I sewed mine together and used a button in the center- could easily just glue it down instead. Now glue it to a ribbon lined clip and
VOILA
Sorry for the blurry pic, it looks much cuter in person, I've also used these flowers on shirts and as brooches. Have fun and let me know how it goes :)

Happy Canada Day!!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Canada, Happy Birthday to yooouuu!

Usually I try and ensure that the whole family is dressed in red and white Canadian themed finery, and this year, somehow, I was completely unprepared for Canada Day. Two out of the five of us wore red and white and the rest of us were big ol' party poopers :(

I did however throw together a fun scavenger hunt (Canadian style) for my kids to do when we walked downtown today. And at some point if I can figure out how to upload a document to the blog I will add it on here so that you can print it out at home if you want...but I am a tad computer stupid soooo it'll have to wait.
Here's my son checking off items (he found a beaver lol).
My daughter's festive feet :) I love pudgy little feet!
And me, not even wearing a single item of red...does the white cardi count?? Didn't think so. Next year I will do better.

Happy Birthday Canada :)
